Description:
Context :
I led the design and development of a graphic design guide for 1984 School of Design, created to replace the school’s traditional brochure with a more engaging and pedagogical tool.
Role :
I was responsible for the project end-to-end, including content research and writing, concept development, graphic design, layout, and coordination with the team and production partners.
Objective :
The goal was to create a hybrid format that functions both as an educational resource and a communication tool, offering prospective students a clear and attractive introduction to the fundamentals of graphic design while reflecting the school’s hands-on approach and professional positioning.
Approach :
The project combined editorial thinking with visual design to build a structured and accessible guide covering key topics such as typography, color, design history, technical vocabulary, software, and drawing basics.
The layout and visual structure were designed to mirror the school’s methodology, giving readers a direct sense of how design is approached and taught.
Execution :
The process included defining the concept, researching and structuring the content, writing and organizing the material, designing the visual system, and producing the final layouts. I also coordinated with the team throughout the project and ensured consistency between editorial intent and visual execution.
Production & Validation :
I managed the preparation of print-ready files, including technical checks (format, margins, color profiles, binding), and oversaw the validation process with the printer until final production.
Result :
The final guide serves as both a clear educational entry point and a distinctive communication piece, reinforcing the school’s positioning and providing prospective students with a tangible and immersive understanding of the discipline and its methods.
