Description:
Brief / Context :
Random Factory is a collaborative experimental project developed with two art directors, exploring randomness and generative processes as creative tools. The goal was to move away from conventional design methods and investigate how chance can influence and enrich visual creation.
Enjeu :
The challenge was to build a coherent creative framework while embracing unpredictability, and to translate experimental processes into a unified and engaging visual system across multiple outputs and formats.
Approach & Role :
As an Art Director within a small team, I contributed to defining the creative direction, organizing the workflow, and sharing tools, files and methods with collaborators. The project was driven by continuous experimentation, combining both analog and digital techniques to expand our creative possibilities.
Concept :
The core idea was to use randomness as a generative principle, allowing unexpected outcomes to emerge and shape the visual language. This approach positioned chance not as a constraint, but as an active component of the creative process.
System & Execution :
The project resulted in a collection of printed posters produced in RISO, each exploring different visual outcomes derived from generative experiments.
We also developed a 3D animated poster designed for Instagram, extending the system into digital and interactive formats.
Beyond print and digital outputs, we designed a physical and video installation that brought together all the pieces into an immersive exhibition environment presented at “We Are From Paris”.
The project combined multiple tools and techniques, including manual processes (drawing, collage, scanning) and digital production (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Cinema 4D), allowing us to bridge physical and digital practices into a unified system.
Impact :
Random Factory was exhibited in a public space, offering an immersive and interactive experience to visitors. The project demonstrated the potential of combining experimentation, collaboration and multi-format design to create a cohesive and engaging visual universe. It also reinforced the importance of adaptability, shared processes and creative management within a small team environment.
